There are many routes to finding international talent.

This page lists domestic and international sources and services that offer a meeting place for Finnish employers and international employees. Consider also whether you should narrow down your recruitment geographically.

Target country

Depending on the sector, role, and goals, recruitment can be targeted at specific countries or regions. When choosing a target country, in addition to your own networks, you could benefit from consulting EURES specialists and Work in Finland Advice Service for Employers.

Local service providers in the target countries can also help with the recruitment process. In this case, remember to follow the principles of ethical recruitment. Ensure that the foreign employment service complies with Finnish legislation, which prohibits charging the job applicant for the commission.

As a rule, recruitment and labor mobility between the EU and EEA countries is smooth. Knowledge of the target countries and language skills further streamline the recruitment process, which also applies outside the EU and EEA countries. For example, Work In Finland employs talent managers in India, Brazil, and Vietnam, who have local expertise and market knowledge in these top target countries. Contact the Work in Finland International Recruitment Advice Service for Employers and ask for more information.

Health and social services professionals from outside the EU and EEA countries

When recruiting for the health and social services sector, pay special attention to the expert’s country of origin if they come from outside the EU and EEA countries. Check out the WHO health workforce support and safeguards list 2023. The website lists the countries with a shortage of health and social sector professionals that need support and safeguards regarding health and social labor.
