Outokumpu, the Finnish steel company has been selected to produce and deliver what is known to be the largest stainless steel construction ever made to China. The construction will be used in the erection of the skyscraper Ping An Finance Centre which is located in Shenzhen, China.

The skyscraper will be 600 metres tall and is aimed to be the tallest building in China and the second tallest in the world. The construction is expected to take no less than three years with plans for its inauguration in April 2016.

Outokumpu has been providing stainless steel constructions to other buildings such as the 80 years old Chrysler Building in the USA and the new Burj Khalifa in Dubai which is currently the highest construction in the world.

According to Outokumpu, stainless steel has become a preferred material for use in such constructions due to its unique qualities of which durability and insulation abilities stand out. The material is also corrosion resistant and thus water-proof.

But Outokumpu’s stainless steel isn’t just used in architecture and constructions. It has been used for a long time for the manufacturing and medical equipment, energy tools as well as cutlery.

The company currently employs more than 15,000 staff in 40 different countries and is currently headquartered in Espoo, Finland.
