The Finnish mnufacturing company MetGen Oy based in Kaarina, Finland, has recently been included in the Top 100 Global Cleantech Companies in 2013. MetGen develops and produces enzymes for the production of bioethanol and for the pulp and paper industry.

The final list was put together by the international consultancy company Cleantech Group and aims to promote companies which are expected to make considerable progress in the field of environmental technology in the next 5 to 10 years.

The listed companies were selected from approximately 5,900 unlisted firms from 60 different countries. The final shortlisting of the top 100 companies has been made by a jury of international environmental technology experts.

A large number of factors were considered when the final selection has been made and in MetGen’s case, an important factor has been its recent dynamic development after an investment of 2.2 million Euros at the beginning of the year.

Alex Michine, CEO of MetGen, explains how the recent investment has enabled MetGen to grow and further develop the enzyme manufacturing process, enabling MetGen to become a global competitor in the industry of environmental technology.
