Finland Overtakes Korea in Wireless Internet Penetration
According to OECD.org, Finland has the highest penetration in wireless internet in 2013 across OECD countries. Finland has overtaken Korea which lost its top rank for the first time since 2009 and now ranking 4th in the top made up of 34 OEDC countries.
According to the statistics, the wireless subscriptions in Korea in 2013 were 103.4 per 100 inhabitants. Finland has outranked Korea with a total of 5.766 million wireless subscriptions, which is 106.54 subscriptions per 100 people. The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning commented that the introduction of mobile phones in countries across Scandinavia has majorly contributed to Finland’s ranking.
The next two top spots were occupied by Sweden and Australia with 104.83 and 103.36 subscriptions respectively.
Korea is however expected to continue to remain in the top three to four positions in the coming years.
